About the Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) Project

The GC7 project will be implemented in Gombe and Kwara state with the goal of providing end-to-end HIV comprehensive services in the 2 states through client centered facility-community based approaches.

In line with Global Fund (GF) strategy of working with and serving the health needs of people and communities to end AIDS, TB and Malaria, SFH will utilize the programme essentials for GC7 which include HIV primary prevention, HIV testing and Diagnosis, elimination of vertical transmission, HIV treatment and care, TB/HIV, Differentiated service delivery, and Gender and Human rights.

 

 

Position: DHIS SPECIALIST- HQ

Contract Duration: Fixed Term

Location: Abuja

 

Job Profile:

The DHIS2 Database Management Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating DHIS operations. His/her role will be critical in ensuring consistent data entry, analysis, and providing information for evidence-informed interventions in the effective and efficient implementation of the Global Fund HIV project.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will:

Program Development and Planning:

  • Maintaining and monitoring data and databases to support the improved availability and use of process monitoring and evaluation data for programme planning, evaluation, and policy and advocacy at national and state level.
  • Modification and updating of the application software module in accordance with programme requirement and specification.

Technical Expertise:

  • Modification and updating of the application software module in accordance with programme requirement and specification.
  • Generation and dissemination of routine reports to all project team in a timely manner.
  • Analyse submitted reports and provide follow up with feedback on quarterly basis.
  • Managing, troubleshooting and providing solution to all issues emanating from the use of the Application software.
  • Archiving of data set and reports

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Capacity building of users including training, mentoring and supportive supervisory visit.
  • Ensuring complete, accurate and quality of project data in the M&E data base

 

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
  • The DHIS specialist will have the ability to support and integrate business processes on a technical level, analyse data requirements and identify required components/elements to be structured in a multi-relationship environment within an existing or new entity; and ensure successful platform upgrades, improvements and implementation by supervising system programming and ensure security of databases.
  • S/he will maintain the database by setting and enforcing standards and controls.
  • The DHIS specialist will provide leadership, technical support and skills transfer at all levels within the GFHIV program on DHIS2 database development, configuration, management and maintenance to strengthen and optimize routine health information, monitoring and evaluation systems within the program.

             Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Generation and dissemination of period reports including fact sheet for decision making to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in Stakeholders meeting relevant to improving technical skills.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in informatics, Computer science, BA/BSc/HND, MBA/MSC/MA or any sciences/Social Science field.

Experience

  • Must possesses a minimum of 3 years’ relevant post NYSC experience.
  • Must have experience in project monitoring, evaluation and data management.
  • Must have experience in working with one of the DHIS 2.0 software.
  • The DHIS specialist must possess skills in management of the programs database architecture to ensure secure access and availability in accordance with the needs of the programme.
  • S/he will maintain the database by setting and enforcing standards and controls.
  • The DHIS specialist will provide leadership, technical support and skills transfer at all levels within the GFHIV program on DHIS2 database development, configuration, management and maintenance to strengthen and optimize routine health information, monitoring and evaluation systems within the program.
  • The DHIS specialist will have the ability to support and integrate business processes on a technical level, analyse data requirements and identify required components/elements to be structured in a multi-relationship environment within an existing or new entity; and ensure successful platform upgrades, improvements and implementation by supervising system programming and ensure security of databases.

Technical:

  • Expert knowledge of DHIS2
  • Experience in providing TA to M&E team of the project towards establishment of a strong data system to collect HIV data to improve HIV response.
  • Demonstrate ability to independently complete assigned task, train and facilitate learning among colleagues.
  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability of a good relationship management/ advocacy skills
  • A strong supportive/mentoring and supervisory skills
